UPstate NY Cooperstown

By some grace of God I survived the trip through nowhere to arrive in Cooperstown with minutes before my Bed and Breakfast closed. Racing through blackness on small roads which were off my navigation system was not the premiere way to travel. The town itself was more interesting then I'd ever have guessed. It was named for the father of the famous author James Fenimore Cooper (Last of the Mohicans) who also resided in the town along with a number of American luminaries.

The town is right at the foot of a lake so it's very scenic and the people are pretty great. I, like most others, arrived looking for the Baseball Hall of Fame but I was impressed with this small town and its history. One of the founders of the Singer sewing machine company (Edward Clark) helped build up the town (along with the Baseball H.O.F.) and the Clark family's mark could be seen everywhere. The town's history was interesting in itself and much of the town (if not all of it) has changed very little over the years.
